Coco Gauff teamed up with Victoria Mboko for the first time last week.
Gauff lost her only match at the Qatar Open last week in both singles and doubles, as she played alongside Mboko.
It was a very different week for Mboko, who reached the Qatar Open final before losing to Karolina Muchova.
Despite their very different weeks, both Mboko and Gauff have risen in the WTA rankings following the conclusion of the Qatar Open.
Mboko will not be competing in Dubai this week, and Gauff has now revealed if she plans to play doubles with the Canadian in the future.
Coco Gauff suggests if she plans to play doubles with Victoria Mboko again
Gauff and Mboko lost in the first round of the Qatar Open doubles tournament last week to Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez, 4-6 6-4 [11-9], despite having three match points.
When asked about this partnership ahead of the Dubai Tennis Championships, where Gauff is not playing doubles, she revealed that they intend to play together again.
Gauff also revealed how the partnership came about, before praising Mboko after her run to the singles final in Doha.
“It was a lot of fun playing with her,” said Gauff, as reported by BTU. “We’ll definitely try to do it again. We had three match points, so we were very close to winning.
“I hope we can get revenge at another tournament. I was really happy for her when she reached the final, she’s a wonderful person and player.
Gauff added, “How did this happen? I was supposed to play with another player, but we couldn’t get it to work. I asked Victoria, she had a similar situation with her partner. I suggested we play together because then we could get into the tournament and we did.”

Mboko has enjoyed a huge breakthrough over this past year, with the 19-year-old climbing from outside the top 300 to the top 10.
With Gauff having a similar rise to the top of the WTA Tour in her teen years, she was asked if she feels like a mentor for younger players like Mboko.
The two-time Grand Slam champion dismissed this, with Gauff claiming that Mboko may know the game even better than her, as she explained that it was just nice to play alongside someone of a similar age.
“To be honest, I don’t feel like a mentor next to her,” responded Gauff. “She is in the top 10, so she knows the game very well, maybe even as well or better than me.
“I felt more like we were equals. It was nice to play with someone my age. Some of my previous partners were my friends, but it’s still a little different when someone is close in age.
“I think the only people I played doubles with around my age were Victoria, Alexandra [Eala], and Caty [McNally], I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone. It was nice to have that experience again.”
Where will Coco Gauff be ranked at the end of the 2026 season?
Gauff will not be playing in doubles in Dubai, but she will be hoping to win her first singles match at the tournament since 2024.
However, it will not be easy for Gauff, who will play either Jelena Ostapenko or Anna Kalinskaya in her opening match.
