Victoria Mboko and Coco Gauff have both been impacted by what happened at the Qatar Open.

Mboko reached the Qatar Open final on her debut appearance, continuing her impressive form after winning the Canadian Open last year.

However, unlike the Canadian Open, Mboko was beaten in the final by Karolina Muchova on this occasion in Doha.

Despite being unable to capture the title at the Qatar Open, Mboko has made a big breakthrough in the WTA rankings.

Gauff, who lost her only match at the Qatar Open, has also been impacted in this latest update, but perhaps not in the way many would have imagined.

Coco Gauff and Victoria Mboko both rise up the WTA rankings

Gauff lost to lucky loser Elisabetta Cocciaretto in her only match at the Qatar Open this year, continuing her poor record at the WTA 1000 tournament.

This is the third successive year that Gauff has lost her only match at the Qatar Open, in what continues to be a challenging tournament for her.

While Gauff will not be pleased with how the tournament panned out for her, she has actually risen up the WTA rankings.

This has come as a result of an opening round exit from the defending champion Amanda Anisimova, whose loss has boosted Gauff back up to American number one.

Despite still being the world number six, Anisimova is now the American number three after also being overtaken by Jessica Pegula.

However, the biggest riser in the top 10 of the WTA rankings is that of Mboko, who has climbed three places to reach her career-high ranking of world number 10.

Mboko is now set to make her debut at the Dubai Tennis Championships, and will have an opportunity to surpass Elina Svitolina as the world number nine.

What has happened to Karolina Muchova’s ranking after winning the Qatar Open?

Notably missing from the top 10 of the WTA rankings is Muchova, who won the biggest title of her career in Doha.

Muchova is a former French Open finalist and has been as high as world number eight, and she is now working back towards that career-high ranking.

After winning the Qatar Open, Muchova has gained 1000 points and climbed eight places in the WTA rankings to world number 11.

Who do you think will win the 2026 Dubai Tennis Championships?

Let us know why in the comments!

Muchova now trails Mboko by 188 ranking points, but that gap is now going to increase.

Following her victory in Doha, Muchova has withdrawn from her upcoming tournament in Dubai due to fatigue and will now lose some ranking points.

Muchova reached the Dubai Tennis Championships semifinals last year, and will now drop 400 points from her ranking, which would currently drop her down to world number 13.
