Coco Gauff has reached her fifth consecutive French Open quarter-final at just 21 years old.

Gauff beat Ekaterina Alexandrova to continue her impressive run at the French Open this year where she is yet to drop a set.

The American’s serve is often a big topic of conversation, but Chris Evert has defended Gauff after her latest victory.

All of this has happened while Gauff has forgotten her rackets and been without her father watching from the stands.

Coco Gauff gives the reason why her Dad never watches her matches anymore

Gauff’s father, Corey, was her primary coach until Wimbledon 2023 before taking a step back.

It was at Wimbledon that year where Gauff suffered a shock first round loss, and after her victory over Alexandrova she explained that her Dad can often have negative body language while watching her.

However, Gauff admitted that this is not exclusive to her and is something that he is also guilty of while watching her younger brothers play sport.

“He has some reactions where if I look in the box I want positivity and I will see him go like this [head in hand] or [slap his thigh],” Gauff told the TNT Sports desk. “He does not mean it.

“So after Wimbledon I lost first round and was like okay Dad, we both agreed that you shouldn’t sit in the box. We can go at it, because I just can’t with the reactions.

“He does it with my brothers too! They are like don’t sit right behind me too. After that I won DC, Cinci[nnati] and the US Open. He is a kind of superstitious guy so he was like okay whatever!”

While her father is no longer allowed to watch her matches in person, her mother Candi is a regular figure in her players’ box.

Where did Coco Gauff’s Dad watch her US Open final win?

Just months after her father was removed from the coaching box, Gauff won the US Open title in 2023.

After making the revelation about her Dad, Gauff was asked about where he watches her matches from now.

The world number two suggested that she was unsure, but thought he was watching on the TV and revealed that he watched her US Open final victory while in the gym.

“I don’t know. I have seen it in the Rolex suite once,” added Gauff. “Here I think he is watching on the TV. The US Open final he was watching in the gym.”

Gauff will be hoping that her father can watch another Grand Slam final with her in it, as she continues her bid for the French Open title.

In her quarter-final match Gauff will play Madison Keys, who is currently on an 11-match winning streak after winning the Australian Open earlier this year.
