Coco Gauff has returned to winning ways after playing her first match at the Cincinnati Open.

Gauff lost to eventual champion Victoria Mboko in the fourth round at the Canadian Open last week.

However, it was not all disappointment for Gauff, who won the Canadian Open doubles title alongside McCartney Kessler.

Now Gauff has returned to the refurbished Cincinnati Open, where she is a former champion.

Gauff lost to Xinyu Wang during the grass court season, but has now got revenge over the Chinese player in Cincinnati.

As an American player, Roland Garros champion Gauff receives a lot of support during the North American hard court swing.

After beating Wang, 6-3 6-2, Gauff told the Tennis Channel desk that she spends 40 minutes signing autographs after her practice session for the ‘thoughtful’ fans in Cincinnati.

Gauff was also keen to praise the food that was on offer at the Cincinnati Open this year.

“The fan excitement is always the same, I think this is one of the tournaments where I will stay after practice for like 40 minutes signing autographs just because of how thoughtful the fans are here,” said Gauff. “They really know a lot of players. It’s also great to see this kind of investment in tennis, especially American tennis. It’s really cool.

“The site is great. For me, just to be here the locker rooms, the free açai bowls are my highlight of the week and free smoothies. And the unlimited food, I love to eat! So the unlimited food has been my favourite part, not having to worry if your balance is close. So the food is the biggest thing!”

Coco Gauff vs Dayana Yastremska Head-to-head

Gauff got revenge over Wang in her first match at the Cincinnati Open, and she will now be looking to do the same again in her next match.

This is where she will play Dayana Yastremska, who beat Gauff at Wimbledon just last month.

Despite Yastremska having the latest victory in their head-to-head, Gauff has won three of their four previous meetings.

Although they have played four times before, this will be a first-time meeting between Gauff and Yastremska on hard courts.

The third round match between Gauff and Yastremska will take place on Tuesday, August 12 at the Cincinnati Open.
