Coco Gauff will appear at her sixth French Open, seeking her second Grand Slam title in the French capital.

Following the Roland Garros draw, Gauff enters the tournament as the second seed and will play Olivia Gadecki in the first round.

The American comes into the tournament in good form on clay, having made the final of the Italian Open, where Gauff ultimately fell to Jasmine Paolini.

She has impressed on the surface so far, but now faces the challenge of delivering on the biggest stage in clay-court tennis, which she spoke on ahead of the French Open.

Coco Gauff gives her verdict on court Philippe-Chatrier ahead of Roland Garros

Speaking on media day about pressure, Gauff said: “I mean, I feel like in Australia I was playing great tennis and then just played Paula [Badosa], who was also playing great tennis.

“I think my mindset going into this tournament, I didn’t feel that much pressure going into Australia, I was playing pretty free. I don’t really feel [pressure] here. I feel like it’s a long way to the final, after experiencing here and the US Open.

“So I think taking it match by match and point by point and hoping I can end up there. If not, I will go back to practice and figure out what I can do to feel better.”

When asked about training on Court Philippe-Chatrier, she said: “I think it’s such a nice court. I think this is my third practice on it, and I really enjoy playing on this court.

“I am super excited. I hope I get to play some matches on this court in the next two weeks, so I’m really excited.”

Coco Gauff’s record at Roland Garros since her debut at the tournament

Gauff made her debut at Roland Garros in 2020, where she made the round of 64 at just 16 years of age.

The following year, she reached the quarter-finals, where she lost to former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets.

In 2022, Gauff had her best campaign at the French Open, making the final of the event, where she met Iga Swiatek.

The former world number one proved too much for Gauff, who would go on to lose to Swiatek again in 2023 at the quarter-final stage.

Last year the defending champion got her third straight win over the 21-year-old in the semi-final.

With Swiatek in poor form coming into the French Open, Gauff has a golden opportunity to finally clinch a maiden Paris crown.
