After winning the Roland Garros women’s doubles title Coco Gauff commented on if she will play the two on two format at Wimbledon.

The 20-year-old is riding high after claiming the title at the French Open alongside the decorated doubles player Kateřina Siniaková.

They defeated the Italian pair of Sara Errani and Jasmine Paoilini, who was beaten in the singles final by Iga Swiatek on Saturday.

After claiming a tight first set tie break, Gauff and Siniaková coasted to a 7-6(5), 6-3 victory on court Philippe Chatrier.

The American became the youngest woman since Svetlana Kuznetsova to win singles and doubles Grand Slam titles.

Coco Gauff is unsure about play doubles at Wimbledon

The US Open singles champion has spoken about scaling back the number of doubles tournaments she plays in the near future.

But after succeeding on the clay it would come as no surprise if she wanted to carry that momentum onto the grass courts.

“I don’t really know,” Gauff told reporters when asked about playing doubles at Wimbledon. “It’s like a feeling thing, I initially thought I would this year if everything went perfectly just play Roland Garros and not play Wimbledon, because I was going to play with an American who I was going to partner for the Olympics.

“But maybe I’ll play Wimbledon now. It’s kind of a feeling thing and how I feel mentally. In the slams it’s something I for sure want to do because I enjoy it.

“But I was more so with the 1000’s and the 500’s I won’t play so much, it just depends on the week. I will definitely be probably playing in Berlin as I need as much grass time as I can get before Wimbledon but maybe in the US Open swing it will be a lot less.”

What is Coco Gauff’s doubles record at Wimbledon?

At just 15 years of age, Gauff announced herself on the world stage when she defeated five-time Wimbledon champion Venus WIlliams at the All-England Club in 2019.

She reached the fourth round that year and again in 2021, but she has to progress any further in singles competition.

In the women’s doubles, Gauff has not progressed beyond the round of 16. She reached this stage alongside fellow American Caty McNally in 2021 and Jessica Pegula in 2023.

Gauff did make it to the semi-finals of the mixed doubles competition in 2022 alongside Jack Sock, but they were beaten by the Australian duo of Sam Stosur and Matthew Ebden.
