Coco Gauff played alongside her compatriot Christian Harrison for the first time at the United Cup this year.
Gauff beat Iga Swiatek, as well as Maria Sakkari and Solana Sierra in singles competition for the USA at the United Cup this year.
However, it was not only singles competition where the world number three represented her nation, with Gauff also playing mixed doubles alongside Harrison.
This was the first time they had ever partnered together, and after the USA exited the United Cup in the semifinals, Harrison has revealed how he found playing with Gauff.

Christian Harrison explains what Coco Gauff’s role was at the United Cup
The USA won the United Cup last year, but on that occasion Gauff played all of her mixed doubles matches alongside Taylor Fritz.
However, with Fritz struggling with a knee injury, doubles specialist Harrison stepped in to fill his shoes.
After winning three of their four matches together, Harrison has revealed what he now thinks about Gauff, who he admitted he did not know that well prior to the United Cup.
“Well, obviously, with Coco [Gauff’s] skillset, she’s going to be a leader anywhere she’s playing,” Harrison told Tennis Channel. “We didn’t know each other that well before the last couple of days, but she is just really easy to talk to.
“It was fun to just get out there and play. She made it easy for me. She was nice with what she was saying off the court, but her game is always going to lead the way with what she brings to the table.”

While Gauff is more associated with her singles accolades, she is also a former doubles world number one and won the French Open doubles title in 2024 with Katerina Siniakova.
While she has played many Grand Slam tournaments in women’s doubles, Gauff’s participation in mixed doubles events has been more fleeting.
Where will Coco Gauff be ranked at the end of the 2026 season?
Gauff has made four previous Grand Slam mixed doubles appearances, with her best result coming at Wimbledon in 2022 when she reached the semifinals alongside Jack Sock.
| Year | Grand Slam | Partner | Result |
| 2018 | US Open | Chris Eubanks | Second Round |
| 2019 | Wimbledon | Jay Clarke | First Round |
| 2022 | Wimbledon | Jack Sock | Semifinal |
| 2023 | US Open | Jack Sock | First Round |
Despite many top players signing up for the revamped event last year, Gauff had her reasons for not playing US Open mixed doubles.
Gauff will not be playing in either doubles event at the Australian Open this year, with her focus solely on singles competition for the event that gets underway on Sunday, January 18.
