Chris Eubanks has confirmed his retirement status after leaving the door open last year.
Eubanks suggested he had retired from tennis in November last year, something he announced on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast.
The American is one of the most popular players on tour, which was showcased by the number of messages he received, including Jessica Pegula and Ben Shelton reacting to Eubanks’ announcement.
While it was assumed that he had retired from tennis, Eubanks still left the door slightly open and he has now confirmed if that door still remains open.

Chris Eubanks claims he is ‘at peace’ with retiring from tennis
Since suggesting he had retired from tennis, Eubanks has made many broadcast and media opportunities, which are set to continue after he signed a three-year deal with Tennis Channel in February.
When speaking to Front Office Sports, Eubanks was asked if he could see himself returning to tennis anymore, to which he has now dismissed those possibilities, despite saying ‘never say never’.
Which American man has the best chance of winning a Grand Slam in 2026?
“I don’t foresee it, you know never say never,” responded Eubanks. “But right now, I am extremely happy with my decision, I’m extremely happy when I reflect back on the things I was able to accomplish in my career.
“And I always say, I was lucky for any of those things to happen. Top 30 in the world would have been a dream come true. I was able to make the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, like that’s a dream come true. I was able to win an ATP title, that was a dream come true.
“The fact that I played college tennis, and I was top five in the country as a 12 or 13 year old who wanted to play high level college and then maybe pro, like the fact that I was even able to do that was incredible.
“…Because my perspective kind of shifted, I don’t have that longing to stay. I want to do more in tennis, I want to go back, that’s just not me. I’m already excited to progress in broadcast and media, kind of like with that same drive that I had intended.
“So, I’m always looking for the next thing, the next thing and the next thing. So right now I don’t see that happening. People keep asking me, they say ‘You know is it really done?’. And I go, yeah, I think it’s done. I think it’s done and I’m totally at peace with that.”
Should there be a fifth Grand Slam?
If so, which tournament would it be?
Who is the only top 10 player Chris Eubanks beat in his career?
Eubanks achieved his career-high ranking of world number 29 in July 2023, after enjoying the breakout season of his career.
Following reaching the quarterfinals of the Miami Open, Eubanks would win his first ATP title in Mallorca, having only won two previous main draw tour-level matches on grass.
Eubanks would take this momentum into Wimbledon, where he would achieve his best ever result by reaching the quarterfinals.
In his run to the Wimbledon quarterfinals, Eubanks obtained his only career top 10 win in a five-set thriller against Stefanos Tsitsipas.
| Chris Eubanks’ Career Achievements | |
| Career-high ranking | No.29 |
| ATP Titles Won | 1 (Mallorca Open 2023) |
| Best Grand Slam Result | Quarterfinal (Wimbledon 2023) |
This Wimbledon run is in stark contrast to the final match of Eubanks’ career, which saw him lose to world number 278 Matej Dodig at a Challenger tournament in Roanne.
Eubanks did not get a big on-court farewell, but he still remains one of the most popular players turned broadcasters.
