Carlos Alcaraz has now been sidelined for over three months with a wrist injury.
Alcaraz, now third in the world behind Alexander Zverev due to the setback, last featured on the ATP Tour at the Barcelona Open in April.
Since then, the Spaniard has been forced to withdraw from both Roland Garros and Wimbledon as he continues his rehab.

It was recently revealed that Alcaraz is targeting a return at the Cincinnati Open, where he is the defending champion.
Alcaraz has uploaded some photos and videos of his recovery to social media, but it is still not clear exactly how much progress he has made, suggests former world number seven Corrado Barazzutti.

As per Tennis World USA, Barazzutti said of Alcaraz’s injury: “It’s become a mystery. He plays in Monte Carlo and loses to Sinner.
“Then he goes to Barcelona, wins his first match, and withdraws the next day. From that moment on, he didn’t play for three or four months because of a wrist problem.
“At least as far as I’m concerned, I’d never heard anything about this problem. I’m not a journalist, so maybe you were better informed, but personally, I’d never had any indication that he had a wrist problem or that he was injured.

“That’s why I find it hard to understand. I don’t know exactly what the problem is, but it must obviously be something serious, given that even today there’s still no concrete talk of his return.
“The wrist, after all, is a very delicate part of the body for a tennis player. I really don’t know what to say. But, at least based on what’s been made public, we know practically nothing.”
How many ATP points Carlos Alcaraz has lost during injury
Prior to the injury occurring at the Barcelona Open, there were just 110 ATP points separating Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the top of the rankings.
Alcaraz had held the position of world number one up until the Monte-Carlo Masters final, where Sinner took it off his rival after beating him there.
After that, Alcaraz’s points tally has decreased dramatically, having withdrawn from several tournaments where he made deep runs in 2025.
Last year, Alcaraz won the Italian Open, the French Open and Queen’s before making the final of Wimbledon, all of which he has missed out on this season.
As a result, Alcaraz’s ATP points total is now 8,160, not far behind Zverev’s sum of 8,480, but still well in front of world number four Felix Auger-Aliassime, who has 4,740 points to his name.
