Carlos Alcaraz recorded the best season of his career in 2025, and perhaps one of the greatest in the Open Era.
The Spaniard clinched eight tour-level titles and reclaimed world number one status by surpassing his rival, Jannik Sinner.
Two of his crowns were won at Grand Slams, with Alcaraz going back-to-back at Roland Garros before securing his second US Open title.
The first half of his campaign was an up-and-down one, however, featuring early exits at the Qatar Open and the Miami Open.
Reflecting on Alcaraz‘s year, coach Juan Carlos Ferrero said his difficulties during the ‘Sunshine Double’ sparked a ‘turning point’.

As per Tennis World Italia, Ferrero said: “In Indian Wells and Miami, he lost some confidence. It was a difficult period, not because of the defeat itself, but because of the way it happened.
“He was affected by that tournament, and we spoke when we returned. We talk to him a lot, but when we see that he’s irritable or a little fragile at certain points of the season, then we focus on the psychological aspect: as friends, more than as coaches.

“Winning Monte Carlo, even without playing that well, but with a 10 out of 10 attitude, really helped him.
“Since then, he’s reached many finals and achieved incredible results in the Slams. The Monte Carlo Masters 1000 was a turning point.
“It gave him the confidence he needed, and from then on, he’s been able to achieve extraordinary results.”

Alcaraz’s triumph at the Monte-Carlo Masters marked the beginning of an incredible streak of making nine consecutive finals.
He suffered a near miss in the Barcelona Open title bout to Holger Rune, but bounced back at the Italian Open, where he hoisted the trophy after overcoming home hope Sinner.
At Roland Garros, Alcaraz beat Sinner once again in one of the greatest matches tennis has seen for a long time.

The 22-year-old lost just one match throughout the grass season, winning Queen’s, but falling in the championship match at Wimbledon.
He then remained undefeated during the North American hard-court swing, emerging victorious at both the Cincinnati Open and the US Open.
Following another tournament win at the Japan Open, Alcaraz’s streak came to an end at the Paris Masters when he lost in his opening match to Cameron Norrie.
