Carlos Alcaraz won the French Open in the most ridiculous circumstances against Jannik Sinner, with the Roland Garros crowd unable to comprehend what they were witnessing.
Alcaraz seemed dead and buried. His grip on the trophy was significantly weak, with Sinner winning the opening two sets to take a firm grip on the final.
Much like Rafael Nadal, however, Alcaraz just finds a way, and here he produced a stunning comeback to deny Sinner a victory that would have given him a maiden title at this event.
The 21-year-old faced three match points in the fourth set, and Sinner will have lost sleep last night after throwing away such a brilliant opportunity to win the crown.

Rod Laver and Martina Navratilova react after Carlos Alcaraz win
Both legends of the game collected this title four times between them, and the tournament must bring back some seriously positive memories.
After Alcaraz had won the French Open title on Sunday, social media was awash with former players reacting to the brilliance of both players.
Australian great Laver posted on X: “Still taking in that incredible men’s final at Roland Garros. So happy for Carlos Alcaraz – five Grand Slams at just 22! My heart goes out to Jannik Sinner, who showed real class in defeat. What a match, thank you both. Tennis is in great hands.
Navratilova also took to social media to deliver her reaction to the brilliant final that took place in Paris.
She said: “One of the greatest matches ever in a major final – truly sad for Jannik Sinner and a phenomenal effort that didn’t go his way, and what an astonishing comeback from Carlos Alcaraz. Chapeau to both warriors and champions.”
Alcaraz produces a superhuman effort to beat Sinner
Some of the shot-making on display from both players was quite remarkable, and this rivalry appears to have started to take shape.
This was the first time that the pair had met at a Grand Slam final, and on this showing, tennis is in for a treat whenever these two come together in the future.
Alcaraz simply doesn’t know when he’s defeated, and to save three championship points makes this particular showing nothing short of superhuman.
Sinner will come again, though and with Wimbledon just around the corner, he will need to shake this one off pretty quickly.
