However, the radio silence on both ends is arguably even worse.
This has allowed many to theorise when reporting about the reasons behind the split, with one member of Alcaraz’s team coming under fire from tennis fans for failing to control this narrative.
One such theory, which has certainly grown in credence, has now been criticised by a leading figure within tennis.

However, he did not hold back in his assessment of Alcaraz’s reasons behind splitting with Ferrero, citing one potential theory and branding it ‘ridiculous’.
Speaking to TennisActu, Forget argued: “I would find it a little strange, because today the sums generated by Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner are so disproportionate that… I mean, a coach like Juan Carlos Ferrero today, I can’t imagine that he couldn’t be paid at his fair value.
“So if this is really the case, it’s frankly ridiculous, because a player who has to generate, I don’t know, 30 million euros a year, who pays his coach 800,000 or 1,500,000… at the end, it brings him so much more than he can “pay”, in any case.”

Whilst it is uncertain whether Alcaraz will look to directly replace Ferrero in his team, he does already have another coach ready to step up as the main figure.
After all, Samu Lopez was brought in just last year and has already made a noticeable impact.

His presence, and the fact that he has already led Alcaraz in Ferrero’s absence, have calmed many when considering how the future might look for the world number one.
