Carlos Alcaraz is looking towards another season on the ATP Tour, having been among the standout players in 2025.

Alcaraz secured eight ATP Tour titles in 2025, more than any other player, with Jannik Sinner second with six.

Two of the Spaniard’s titles arrived at Grand Slam level, with the 22-year-old winning the French Open and US Open.

He beat Sinner in both finals, but lost to the Italian in the Wimbledon final, having fallen in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.

Carlos Alcaraz praised for ‘crazy’ career so far

Alcaraz has been criticized for playing exhibitions ahead of another edition of the Australian Open, but former player Alex Corretja has now heaped praise on the ATP star.

Former world number two Corretja told Eurosport Spain: “This year has been exciting because both Alcaraz and Sinner have raised their tennis game even higher.

“I think Carlos has shown that when he is fit and mentally, emotionally and, above all, physically stable, he is practically unbeatable.

“He is a very powerful player who has taken his abilities to the maximum in every match. It’s crazy what he’s achieved with so many titles, especially the Roland-Garros final.

“I think it was almost a miracle what he achieved, through determination and a lot of strength, and then he sealed it by also winning in New York.

“I think it was very good for him to recover after losing the Wimbledon final to Sinner, where it seemed that Sinner had found a way to beat him tactically and mentally.”

Alex Corretja suggests who can challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner

Sinner beat Alcaraz to the Fans’ Favorite award for 2025, but the Spaniard has claimed the more important year-end number one rank.

It is a rivalry that Corretja has welcomed, but at the same time he thinks it should inspire other ATP players to end their dominance.

Discussing those who can potentially challenge Sinner and Alcaraz going forward, he said: “We’ll see how Jack Draper has recovered, as he hasn’t competed for a long time and I think that, when he’s fit, he’ll be one of the most difficult players to beat.

“We’ll see if Ben Shelton gradually finds his tennis level and also his stability. What will happen with [Joao] Fonseca?

“I hope it will be a good year for the Brazilian, because he has a lot of potential and a lot of tennis, and he is someone who, if he is physically and mentally prepared, could start to shine in the big tournaments and perhaps be ready to compete with the best.

What is your boldest tennis prediction for 2026?

“From there, we will see how the circuit continues to develop, because I am convinced that other players will also emerge.

“Maybe [Lorenzo] Musetti can have a great year; we will see if [Alexander] Zverev stays at the top and if [Daniil] Medvedev, or some of the others, recover and make headlines again.”

It’s certainly a big ask for any player to really compete with the leading duo, who don’t look like slowing down anytime soon.

Sinner is only 24 years old but boasts four Grand Slam titles, while at 22 Alcaraz already has six such titles to his name.
