Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest man in tennis history to complete the career Grand Slam earlier this month by beating Novak Djokovic to win the Australian Open title.

It’s a hugely impressive feat, but one that has been referenced relentlessly over the last week or so in celebration of his triumph.

It makes him arguably the greatest youngster in the history of the sport, adding to everything else he has achieved at just 22, and puts him in a unique and hugely promising position to one day potentially become the best player of all time.

However, what this also allows Carlos Alcaraz to do is select his favourite Grand Slam tournament without bias, having now tasted the euphoria that winning each one provides.

Carlos Alcaraz picks his favourite Grand Slam tournament

As a two-time Wimbledon, Roland Garros and US Open champion, there is an expectation that these three might take precedence for the young Spaniard.

However, Alcaraz had been so vocal about his desire to complete the career Grand Slam, and so to do it at the Australian Open might give the Melbourne major an advantage.

He did not hesitate when asked by golfer Bryson DeChambeau though, featuring on his YouTube channel.

The seven-time major champion swiftly stated: “Wimbledon. Wimbledon is the one. You win just one Grand Slam and it’s going to be Wimbledon. It’s the one that gives you the most status.”

Elsewhere, Alcaraz has named the next tournament he’s desperate to win. It’s not a bad tactic considering how well it worked out with the Australian Open.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic’s Australian Open final broke records

Naturally, the intrigue surrounding last week’s men’s Australian Open final was at an all-time high, particularly after so many iterations of Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner.

They had met in the final of the last three majors, and had shared all of the last eight titles too.

Who finishes their career on more majors – Alcaraz or Djokovic?

However, last Sunday, there was hope that Djokovic might be able to break that streak, particularly after he had beaten Sinner in a gruelling but hugely entertaining five-set epic.

As such, their final broke records, making it the most-watched Australian Open final in nearly a decade, since 2017.

The 730,000 viewers that ESPN commanded was a 57% increase from last year, made even more stunning as the match started at around 3:30 a.m. ET.
