Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed a brilliant 2024 and it looks as though Spain won’t need to dwell on Rafael Nadal’s retirement.

The heir to the 22-time Grand Slam winner’s throne has already won four of his own and Alcaraz is gunning for more.

It’s hard to imagine Alcaraz not eclipsing Nadal when it comes to Grand Slams, although that might depend on his fitness and the competition he gets.

The Australian Open is just around the corner and Andy Roddick has given some advice to Alcaraz ahead of that tournament.

He’s also got reservations that Alcaraz might disappoint some supporters in 2025 but his fan base will be buzzing to see him back in action on the court.

Alcaraz is training hard ahead of Melbourne but he’s keen to do something that might actually annoy his dad if he accomplishes it.

Carlos Alcaraz shares how he might upset his dad at Australian Open

Ahead of the 2025 season getting underway, Alcaraz has been performing some media duties, speaking with Cope.

He’s really keen to get that first Australian Open title ticked off in January but he thinks in doing so he might annoy his dad!

Alcaraz gets trophies of all of his titles tattooed on him and he will be doing the same should he win the title in Australia next month.

He said: “I still get emotional when I watch the videos of Roland Garros and Wimbledon. May 2025 come strong.

“I am a very ambitious boy and I want more and Australia is what I want to tattoo on myself, even though my father doesn’t like it very much. Being champion there is my next objective for sure.

“I’m starting a tough month of training, but being at home for Christmas and New Year is wonderful and gives me a break.”

Hungry Alcaraz will take some stopping

Australia had better watch out because Alcaraz is on the march!

He will be hurting having not won the ATP Finals or helped Spain win the Davis Cup and Alcaraz will want to quickly get out of the blocks in 2025.

The fact that the Australian Open is the one Slam he’s not won yet makes him very dangerous and the rest of the field might be left floundering.

Alcaraz will be completely ready by the time the tournament comes around and the Spaniard will be hoping his dad is royally annoyed by the end of the Australian Open.
