Carlos Alcaraz is now in Beijing preparing for the China Open following an excellent showing at the Laver Cup.
The 21-year-old rediscovered his best tennis as he won eight of Team Europe’s 13 points in a narrow win over Team World.
Alcaraz’s tally is the highest number of points one player has earned for his Laver Cup team in a single event.
Alcaraz seemed to have regained his confidence following his starring role on his Laver Cup debut, and he plans to keep his momentum going in Beijing.
How will the Laver Cup help Carlos Alcaraz at the China Open?
Carlos Alcaraz arrived at the Laver Cup after going undefeated to help Spain qualify for the ‘Final 8’ stage of the Davis Cup.
The Word number three then helped Team Europe beat Team World 13-11 as he once again proved that he thrives in team events.
He picked up some big wins at Berlin’s Uber Arena and aims to use the confidence from beating some of the world’s best during his time in Asia, as he aims for a strong final portion of the season.
“I played great matches in the Laver Cup, which helped me a lot to have more confidence coming to this tournament,” Alcaraz told reporters in Beijing.
“I beat Ben Shelton, who was playing great, and Taylor Fritz, who came from the final in New York. Having those victories, it’s great for my confidence and level to come here with extra energy knowing I’m ready to do a good result, knowing that I have a really tough draw.”

Who will Carlos Alcaraz play at the China Open?
Alcaraz is set to commence his China Open campaign against the Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
It’s not often that Alcaraz plays against a younger opponent, but that will be the case when he takes on the World number 51, who is four months his junior.
Perricard made his breakthrough after winning the Lyon Open and making round of 16 appearances at Queen’s and the Wimbledon Championships.
Their upcoming contest will mark the first meeting between Alcaraz and Perricard and it is set to be a compelling match.
