Carlos Alcaraz congratulated Coco Gauff on her WTA Finals victory in Riyadh.
In one of the matches of the year, the 20-year-old capped off her campaign by lifting the season-ending championship trophy for the first time.
In one of her toughest matches to date, Gauff came from behind to claim a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) win over Qinwen Zheng after three hours and four minutes of pulsating action.
The WTA Finals is Gauff’s third title of the year and her reward was $4.805 million, the highest prize money fee in women’s tennis history.

Coco Gauff became the first American woman to win the WTA Finals since Serena Williams in 2014.
She ends her 2024 season as the World number three despite some difficult results over the summer at Wimbledon, the Paris Olympics and the North American hard court swing.
Gauff received a congratulatory message from Carlos Alcaraz, who both won the China Open on their respective tours in October.
To acknowledge her victory, Gauff posted a series of photos with the WTA Finals trophy on Instagram and wrote: “I’m so grateful for all the support the last few weeks.
“Getting to win the last tournament of the season and it also being my second biggest title of my career so far is insane. Wow WTA FINALS CHAMPION.”
Alcaraz was one of many who took to the comments section and said: “Simply amazing,” alongside a fire emoji, to which Gauff replied: “Thank you! Good luck in Turin!, referring to the ongoing ATP Finals.

Gauff fell to the ground before letting out a roar of elation following her WTA Finals win over Zheng.
The 20-year-old ended the 2024 season with just two losses following the US Open and two titles in Beijing and Riyadh.
Many were delighted with Gauff’s latest including tennis colleagues such as Holger Rune and his former coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
The Dane wrote: “100% Well done,” while Mouratoglou added: “Fantastic achievement.”, to which Gauff replied “Thank you!”
Furthermore, her American compatriot and WTA Finals doubles runner-up Taylor Townsend said: “I’m so proud of you!!! Congratulations!! So well deserved.” After her latest accomplishment, Gauff outlined her desire to rest before preparing for 2025.
“All glory to God truthfully. I‘m eternally grateful for the life I get to live and to have moments like this makes all of the hours/sacrifice I put into this worth it,” she said. “Time to rest for a little bit but then it’s back to grind for next year’s season.”
