Boris Becker is pleased to hear that Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu will be playing mixed doubles together at Wimbledon.

After the disappointment of being unable to play singles at what is set to be his final appearance as a player at the All-England Club, the 37-year-old will take to the court in doubles action.

Not only will he play in the men’s doubles alongside his brother Jamie but now the former World number one will play alongside his fellow US Open singles winner for the first and likely last time after they accepted a wildcard into the competition.

With the latest announcement surrounding Murray’s Wimbledon farewell, fans will get more opportunities to see him grace the hallowed courts for the final few times in his career.

What did Boris Becker say about Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu’s mixed doubles announcement?

Following the confirmation of a dream doubles partnership between Murray and Raducanu, Becker took to social media platform X to voice his happiness with the announcement. “Indeed breaking news, perfect partnership at Wimbledon,” the six-time Grand Slam champion posted.

Former British tennis star John Lloyd was also very excited by the prospect of seeing the two players join forces for a shot at Wimbledon glory.

The 1977 Australian Open runner-up told the BBC: “I was thinking with Emma a lot of times when you are focused on the singles a lot of times your coaching staff and your team don’t want you to play other events.

“But can you imagine when the phone call came through, Andy would like to play with you, what do you think? There was no hesitation I’m sure.

“Andy won’t play in the mixed doubles unless he thinks he can win it so there will be a bit of pressure on Emma, but she is playing with her idol and what a great combo!”
