Fonseca climbs ATP World Rankings after winning Argentina Open

Perhaps Becker is right…the sky really is the limit for Fonseca. Right now, he will be busy checking the ATP World Rankings after he progressed up the ladder to world number 68 after his latest win.

Fonseca was ranked outside the top 100 when he beat Rublev at the Australian Open. It was a case of after The Lord Mayor’s Show, however, and he was beaten by Lorenzo Sonego in round two much to the disappointment of his fan base.

However, it’s quite remarkable that he’s now in the top 70 in the world rankings. With lots of tournaments coming up, there will be other chances for him to keep progressing and Fonseca is a very exciting talent.

With the game’s big stars like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray now sailing off into retirement, there have been concerns over who the next players up will be.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will have a rivalry for the ages but with Fonseca now on a charge up the rankings too, it looks likely that the future of men’s tennis is extremely bright.
