Carlos Alcaraz has made a clear point after winning the Australian Open according to Boris Becker.
Alcaraz had been backed to win the Australian Open by Becker, which was the only major tournament he had yet to win.
Having reached the final in Melbourne for the first time in his career, Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic to win the Australian Open.
After watching Alcaraz beat his former player on Rod Laver Arena, Becker believes the Spaniard has now proved a point.

Boris Becker reacts to Carlos Alcaraz beating Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open
Alcaraz beat Djokovic, 2-6 6-2 6-3 7-5, to become the youngest man in history to complete the Career Grand Slam.
However, this did not always seem likely, with some doubt cast over Alcaraz after he split from Juan Carlos Ferrero just a month before the Australian Open got underway.
Who finishes their career on more majors – Alcaraz or Djokovic?
The Australian Open is Alcaraz’s first Grand Slam title without Ferrero as his coach, and Becker believes that he has now proven that he made the right decision.
“Huge respect, a really strong performance from Alcaraz,” Becker said on Eurosport Germany. “It didn’t look like it at the start, because Djokovic played a sensational first set.
“The longer the match went on, the more you got the feeling that Alcaraz was feeling comfortable. The long rallies at the end, when he stood up to his opponent, made it clear to me that Novak’s time was slowly running out on this day.”
Becker added, “It was a difficult decision for team Alcaraz to part ways with the successful duo of Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero. But after 14 days, we know that the decision was the right one.
“The journey continues, and he has the tennis world at his feet. He is a very likeable player. The semifinal against Alexander Zverev was hard-fought, but today he was simply outstanding.”
What is next for Carlos Alcaraz after winning the Australian Open?
Alcaraz has now cemented his position as the world number one, after his closest rival Jannik Sinner lost to Djokovic in the Australian Open semifinals.
Despite spending 20 hours and 23 minutes on court over the past fortnight at the Australian Open, Alcaraz is scheduled to play his next tournament in just over a week.
Alcaraz won the Rotterdam Open for the first time last year, and he is currently entered into the ATP 500 tournament as the defending champion.
Are you more or less confident that Novak Djokovic can win his 25th Grand Slam now?
This is not the only ATP 500 tournament that Alcaraz is scheduled to play in the coming weeks, as the Spaniard is also entered into the stacked Qatar Open.
The Qatar Open is currently set to feature Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic as the top three seeds this year.
Whether Alcaraz will actually play both or either of these tournaments remains to be seen, as he now celebrates his first ever victory at the Australian Open.
