Boris Becker reacts on social media after Rafael Nadal confirms the date he will retire from tennis

Boris Becker is among the star names reaching out to Rafael Nadal after his decision to announce his retirement from tennis.

Nadal will play one final time at the Davis Cup Finals, with his nation hosting the team tournament next month.

Coco Gauff has messaged Nadal after his announcement, with the Spanish star finally calling time on his phenomenal career.

The 38-year-old spent 209 weeks at the top of the world rankings, with 22 Grand Slam titles having gone his way.

That includes a record 14 French Open victories, with four US Open titles going his way, along with two successes at the Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Boris Becker messages Rafael Nadal after retirement confirmation

Nadal may just have one surprise left, although it remains to be strong how strong the Spaniard will be in Malaga given his injury issues.

The King of Clay has now received a heartfelt message from Becker following his decision, with the latter writing on X: “What shall we say about Rafa! The man came full circle and won absolutely everything in tennis with his own unique style!

“Commitment, determination and the ability to go always one more step further made the difference… We salute/honour the man from Mallorca! Vamos Rafa.”

Rafael Nadal to retire as the undisputed King of Clay

Six-time Grand Slam champion Becker knows all about the sacrifices that Nadal has made to enjoy such a superb career.

The German didn’t achieve success at Roland Garros, but he shone at Wimbledon, with three titles going his way.

Nadal’s heroics on the French Open clay will never be repeated, with the Spaniard set to retire as the greatest ever on that specific surface.

But with 92 tour-level titles overall, he is much more than his Roland Garros wins, with the Spaniard a hugely popular figure on and off the court.

He will definitely be soaking up the congratulatory messages, but at the same time Nadal will be eyeing Davis Cup Finals glory with Spain.
