Wimbledon is rapidly approaching, with all the stars of the men’s and women’s game hoping to clinch success in London.

It is the flagship event of the grass season, which has now returned now that the French Open has been brought to an end.

Men’s ace Carlos Alcaraz secured a superb win on the Paris clay for his first Roland Garros title, with women’s icon Iga Swiatek lifting her fourth French Open trophy.

Attentions will now turn to the various grass events in the lead up to Wimbledon, which will get underway at the beginning of July.

Emerging victorious in the men’s singles last time out was Alcaraz, with the Spaniard beating Novak Djokovic in a five-set thriller.

Ben Shelton makes Carlos Alcaraz prediction at Wimbledon

The former now heads into the major in superb form following his latest Grand Slam, but a repeat of the 2023 final may be off the cards given his fitness concerns.

Having pulled out of the French Open with a knee injury, the Serb needed surgery, with his doctor now claiming that it is unlikely he will not be 100% for Wimbledon.

That could allow a more smooth progression for Alcaraz to go all the way, with his fellow professional Ben Shelton predicting exactly that.

When asked who will win Wimbledon this year, Shelton told the ATP Tour on X: “Maybe Carlos will go back to back.”

Can Carlos Alcaraz win his fourth Grand Slam title?

The young Spaniard has enjoyed a stunning career so far, and has now moved to second in the world rankings following his victory in Paris.

But he won’t want his 2024 success to end there, with the 21-year-old undoubtedly keen to make it successive wins in the English capital.

Alcaraz has proven he is a master on all surfaces, having now won on hard, clay and grass courts in his brief career.

The French Open champion can clearly easily switch between surfaces, although he has admitted to feeling more comfortable on the hard surface.

The effortless transition has been key to his success so far, with a move back to clay rapidly taking place after Wimbledon, with Alcaraz set to return to Roland Garros for the Olympics later this summer.
