Ben Shelton has continued his superb run at Indian Wells, with the American storming into the quarter-finals.

Shelton thinks the Indian Wells courts are bouncy, but so far he has had very few issues at the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Brad Gilbert thinks Shelton can break the top five in the ATP Tour rankings, with the 22-year-old currently in 12th place.

Indian Wells progression will likely be the only thing on the mind of Shelton right now, with Briton Jack Draper his next opponent.

Draper has already beaten two home favourites at Indian Wells, knocking out Jenson Brooksby and third seed Taylor Fritz.

Those wins came after the British number one knocked out rising star Joao Fonseca, with the 13th seed now taking on 11th seed Shelton.

The latter overcame Mariano Navone and Karen Khachanov early on, with the American then defeating compatriot Brandon Nakashima in the round of 16.

And his latest victory is of huge significance, with Shelton now the youngest American man to reach the Indian Wells quarter-finals since Andy Roddick in 2004, as per Tennis Channel.

He beat Nakashima 7-6(8-6), 6-1, after picking up 6-3, 6-2 and 6-3, 7-5 wins over Navone and Khachanov respectively.

On the women’s side at Indian Wells, Shelton’s compatriot Madison Keys is flying the American flag proudly.

Like Shelton, the Australian Open champion has stormed into the quarter-finals, with Keys now on a 15-match winning run.

She produced a superb comeback to defeat Donna Vekic last time out, with the in-form Belinda Bencic now her next challenge.

The Swiss star has also been really impressive in recent times, with Bencic now the sixth wildcard to reach the Indian Wells quarter-finals since its inception in 1989, as per OptaAce.

She follows the likes of legendary figures Serena Williams and Martina Hingis with the feat, which was also achieved by Caroline Wozniacki last year.

Moreover, having just knocked out third seed Coco Gauff, Bencic is the second wildcard to win against a top-five at Indian Wells, as per OptaAce.

Having beaten the world number three 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, she follows in the footsteps of Hingis, who defeated Lindsay Davenport in 2006.
