The first Grand Slam of the year is here with day one of the 2025 Australian Open, so look ahead with the order of play and more as Aryna Sabalenka headlines the action.

WTA Tour world No1 Sabalenka has returned to Melbourne Park to defend the Belarusian’s back-to-back Australian Open women’s singles titles. The 26-year-old took the trophy home in 2023 plus 2024 and could be the first to secure a three-peat since Martina Hingis in 1999.

Lifting successive singles titles over the past two Australian Opens saw Sabalenka match the best runs since Hingis dominated Down Under 26 years ago. Now, a first-round clash against Sloane Stephens is the start of Sabalenka’s quest for her third Australian Open title in a row.
