Novak Djokovic will be unable to defend one of the ATP titles he won last year.
Djokovic won his 100th title at the Geneva Open last year, but it is currently unclear as to whether he plans to return to the upcoming ATP 250 tournament.
The Geneva Open is not the only tournament where Djokovic was the champion last year, as he also won another ATP 250 event on the indoor hard courts of Athens, where he now resides.
Djokovic beat Lorenzo Musetti to win his 101st ATP title last year, but it now appears that he will not be able to defend his title in Athens.

The ATP Tour appears to remove Athens tournament from 2026 and 2027 calendar
The week in between the Paris Masters and the ATP Finals at the end of the season has seen many interchanging tournaments on the calendar.
Previously the Belgrade Open has been in this position, but last year that position was held by the Hellenic Championship in Athens alongside the Moselle Open in Metz.
The ATP Tour had already confirmed that the Moselle Open would be removed from the calendar after 23 years, with the Stockholm Open being moved to take its place.
The Stockholm Open was initially placed alongside another tournament that was to be confirmed in the future, but that no longer appears to be the case.
It appears that the Hellenic Championship will not return to the calendar this year, and therefore Djokovic will not be able to defend his title.
This is the same situation for the 2027 season, where the European Open in Brussels is swapping places with the Stockholm Open, but there is no longer an additional tournament on the calendar.

Djokovic is not the only Grand Slam champion who will be affected by this decision, as Stan Wawrinka also may now have had his retirement tournament decided for him.

However, with the Athens tournament now seemingly removed from the calendar, it appears that Wawrinka will be making his final farewell in Basel.
