Aryna Sabalenka has been full of praise for Emma Raducanu after their Wimbledon clash last night, in which the British number one pushed her hard.
Heading into the clash, few expected much from the 22-year-old, who, despite enjoying one of the best years of her career on tour, had shown little to suggest that she could topple a player of the Belarusian’s magnitude.
And yet, she fought well, deservedly going a break up in the first and second sets despite eventually losing them both.
Sabalenka praised Raducanu in her on-court interview, and has sought to send another message of adulation on social media.
What Aryna Sabalenka said to Emma Raducanu on social media
Taking to social media, the Belarusian was keen to reinforce her strong opinions on Emma Raducanu’s performance.
And when the 2021 US Open champion posted on Instagram, it marked the perfect opportunity.
She claimed: ‘Many feelings to compute but that was a mega night to have been part of. Thank you for the thrilling energy and atmosphere. Good luck for the rest of the way @arynasabalenka.’
Aryna Sabalenka’s comment in response was short but very sweet, as she wrote: ‘You played incredibly good. I’m sure we gonna play big matches in the future’.
This comes after she also predicted that Raducanu would surely be heading back towards the top ten if she can continue such sparkling form, clearly capable of troubling the very best that the sport has to offer.
When is Emma Raducanu’s next tournament?
With Wimbledon and the grass-court season concluded now for Raducanu, attention can turn back to the surface that gave her the greatest triumph of her career thus far: the American hard courts.
There are a couple of months now until the US Open commences, and so in between, there aer all manner of events, from Masters 1000s to 250-level tournaments.

Raducanu’s next competition has already been pencilled in, though: the Mubadala Citi DC Open in Washington, which starts on July 21st.
So, there is a good opportunity in the calendar for a solid training block, hopefully with Mark Petchey.
However, Raducanu spoke about her coach’s future after her loss to Sabalenka, and did not seem too certain when answering a question on whether they will continue their partnership.
