Aryna Sabalenka will make her eighth appearance at the French Open, looking to win her fourth Grand Slam title.

The world number one is seeking her fourth title of the season, having already tasted success in Brisbane, Miami and Madrid.

Following a disappointing campaign at the Italian Open, where Sabalenka lost to Qinwen Zheng in the quarter-finals, she will look to regain form on the clay courts of Stade Roland Garros.

Sabalenka is the first seed at this year’s tournament and is among the favourites to win it all, along with defending champion Iga Swiatek, who she discussed before the event.

Aryna Sabalenka says she has no expectations for herself or anyone else at Roland Garros

Speaking in her press conference on media day at Roland Garros, Sabalenka said of Swiatek: “Honestly, I don’t have any expectations for myself and, of course, any expectations for other players.

“I mean, of course, I think like everyone because she was doing really well at this tournament, everyone expected her to win this tournament, and everyone expects really great tennis from her.

“But I don’t know what to say, I don’t have any expectations, and as I said before, Grand Slams are tricky tournaments.

“Everyone feels a lot of pressure, and there are so many upsets recently at Grand Slams, so whatever is going to happen is going to happen, and I would prefer to focus on myself.”

Aryna Sabalenka’s record at Roland Garros over the years

Sabalenka made her Roland Garros debut in 2018, where she bowed out in the first round.

It wasn’t until 2023 that she made it past round three at the tournament, making the semi-final that year in what was her best French Open campaign to date.

She was defeated by Karolina Muchova over three sets after enjoying a dominant route to the final four.

Last year, Sabalenka made the quarter-finals but ultimately lost to Mirra Andreeva 6-7, 6-4, 6-4.

The French Open is one of two Grand Slams the Belarusian is yet to get her hands on.

She has two Australian Open titles and one US Open crown, but has never emerged victorious in Paris or at Wimbledon.
