Aryna Sabalenka has stormed into yet another final in 2025, with the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix trophy now up for grabs.

Sabalenka admitted really bad second serve stats from the first set of her semi-final win, where she beat Jasmine Paolini.

That victory came after Sabalenka beat Elise Mertens in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix quarter-finals, after Anastasia Potapova withdrew from their round of 16 tie.

Sabalenka was handed a bye in the first round of the WTA 500 tournament, which arrived shortly after she won the Miami Open.

The WTA number one now faces Jelena Ostapenko for the title, with the Latvian having beaten Ekaterina Alexandrova in their semi-final.

Aryna Sabalenka loves ‘very nice comment’ about her from Iga Swiatek

Ostapenko previously knocked out Iga Swiatek in the quarter-finals, with the latter asked after the loss what she thinks is the difference between the former and Sabalenka.

Swiatek said Sabalenka is playing with more logic, with the Belarusian asked after her win over Paolini if she thinks logic will be key to winning the final.

“Well, thanks for that,” replied Sabalenka. “I actually understand what she’s talking about. Yeah, I understand what she’s talking about, and with Jelena, you really have to stay low and be ready for anything and do not expect some logical decisions over there and just, like, try to play your best and try to put all of that pressure she’s trying to putting on you back on her and see what happens.

“Yeah, I mean, that’s a very nice comment actually from Iga. Or actually, maybe it’s about, that’s why she still knows me. Maybe I have to become that player when I play against Iga, like, not following the logic.”

Aryna Sabalenka and Jelena Ostapenko head-to-head record before Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final

Ostapenko continued her stunning run against Swiatek at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.

The former clearly has a very precise way of approaching matches with the latter, having now won all six of their career meetings.

It is a remarkable record, with Sabalenka having certainly not has the same success, winning just four of her 12 matches with Swiatek.

The Belarusian is, however, very much the player to beat and the player to catch in the WTA rankings at this moment in time.

And importantly for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final, Sabalenka is once again the player in the driving seat.

She has won all three of her meetings with Ostapenko, who clearly hasn’t been able to use the same approach for her matches with Sabalenka as she has done with Swiatek.

Sabalenka was also asked how she will approach the final, where she will come up against a player who likes to play fast, like her.

“Yeah, we played a couple of times, and the last meeting was on the clay,” she said. “First of all, I’m aware of her shots.

“Yeah, she can play really aggressive. I think I know the way I have to play in that match, and I’m really looking forward.

“I think it’s going to be very aggressive tennis from both. I’m excited for the final. Yeah, really can’t wait to play.”
