Arthur Fils has surpassed a record set by Rafael Nadal at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The Frenchman has been quietly taking gradual steps forward in his career and after making a slow start to 2025 he is now hitting his stride.
The 20-year-old achieved his best result at the Australian Open in January and he is currently at a career-high ranking of 15.
But now the youngster is now producing his best tennis at Masters 1000 level and he picked up a big win in Monte Carlo.

Arthur Fils breaks Rafael Nadal record after latest win at Monte Carlos Masters
Arthur Fils faced Andrey Rublev with a spot on the Monte Carlo Masters quarter-finals on the line.
Thursday’s encounter marked just the second time the players competed against one another, and this time it was Fils who came out on top.
He won 81 of points behind his first serve and won five of nine break points as cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory in 62 minutes.
This victory means Fils at 20 years and 298 days old, is now the youngest player to make the quarter-finals at each of the first three Masters 1000 events in a season since the format began in 1990.
He has broken the record set by Rafael Nadal, who achieved that feat aged 20 and 316 days in 2007.

Who will Arthur Fils play next?
Fils will contest the Monte Carlo Masters quarter-final against either Daniel Altmaier or Carlos Alcaraz.
Fils has played the German on six occasions, and their rivalry is locked at three wins apiece.
However, Altmaier, who successfully qualified for the Monte Carlo Masters, won their last meeting at February’s Rotterdam Open.
Alcaraz on the other hand, has never played against Fils and there is a chance they could face one another for the first time.
