It was written all over his face much like it was at Wimbledon in 2013 and 2016 for Andy Murray as he delivered an Olympics moment to saviour.

The writing is being sprayed onto the wall already as Murray prepares to bring the curtain down on his career – but it’s not over yet!

Last night at Roland Garros, Murray – along with Dan Evans – reached the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles by beating Belgian duo Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen.

The Great Britain pairing once again did it the hard way. Murray and Evans were forced to save two match points to come through this clash.

Murray and Evans rolled back to the years to see off Japan in the first round and now they’re two matches away from playing for the gold medal.

Shortly after the win, Annabel Croft was quizzed on whether or not she thought the pair could go on and claim a medal at the Olympics.

Annabel Croft delivers verdict on Andy Murray and Dan Evans

This was another remarkable night for Murray and Evans as they defied the odds to reach the quarter-final.

Afterwards, Croft was quizzed on whether she thought the pairing could go all the way and get their hands on a medal at the games.

She told BBC Sport: “I think anything is possible at this stage. It’s a possibility for Andy Murray and Dan Evans to get a medal.

“Murray is playing way better tennis than we saw at Wimbledon, even in the first round they looked like a transformed team today.

“The pair of them look energised and like they are gelling together, they have chemistry out there and they’re just loving it.”

Murray and Evans could shock American pair next

The likely opposition for Murray and Evans is the American pairing of Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz.

They face Robin Haase and Jean-Julien Rojer in the next round and winning that would set up a mouthwatering clash with Murray and Evans.

Fritz is spinning a lot of plates at the Olympics and remains in the singles and the mixed doubles alongside Coco Gauff.

With the American playing in all three competitions that may hamper his fitness and that could help Murray and Evans if they do end up playing them.

Naturally, the fitness issues with the Great British team have been well documented but Fritz and Paul do represent a winable game for the duo should it come to that.

In our view, Croft is right – anything really is possible when it comes to Sir Andy Murray!
