Iga Swiatek has continued her Wimbledon campaign after beating Danielle Collins to reach the second week.

Swiatek has struggled at Wimbledon in previous years, with it being her weakest Grand Slam tournament by some distance.

However, there have been some signs of improved form on grass in 2025, with Swiatek reaching the final in Bad Homburg coming into Wimbledon.

The Pole has continued this into the grass court major, with some now picking Swiatek to win Wimbledon.

Andy Roddick says what he saw Iga Swiatek doing at Wimbledon that he has never seen before

Swiatek beat Collins, 6-2 6-3, in her third round match on Centre Court at Wimbledon.

It is no secret that Swiatek and Collins are not the best of friends, and it was the five-time Grand Slam champion who got revenge from her defeat at the Italian Open.

Someone who was in attendance for Swiatek’s latest Wimbledon victory was Andy Roddick, who was full of praise for the world number four.

On his Served with Andy Roddick podcast, the former world number one was particularly impressed with Swiatek’s serve.

“Iga, I don’t know how it looked on TV. But Iga was lights out! Iga is in this tournament to win it, I am just telling you,” said Roddick. “She is dialled. That’s a tough match up on grass on paper with the Danimal and someone who hits it hard and flat through the court.

“Iga’s serve, she was thumping it today. 118mph, 116mph. I don’t remember her serving that big before. Moving the second serve around.

“Throwing the toss up and getting somewhere to check and catching it. She was in full flight today. She was not trying to run around forehands, she was taking the backhand on the bounce.

“She just looks way more comfortable on grass this year. The other years you have felt like she is the best player in the world, by far on clay, but she looks a little awkward on grass.

“This year it’s like she might not be the best player in the world on most surfaces this year but for some reason she has settled a bit on grass.

“Her movement looked great, her ball flight was not super toppy and loopy. It was getting through the court. She looked great.”

How effective has Iga Swiatek’s serve been at Wimbledon?

Swiatek’s serve has often been labelled a weakness in her game this year and has been something she has been trying to work on with coach Wim Fissette.

This appears to be paying off, with Swiatek averaging 180 km/h serves in her third round match against Collins.

Her first serve was less reliable against Collins than in previous matches in terms of getting the ball in, but she managed to hold serve every game of the match.

Swiatek will be hoping that her serve will be firing in her fourth round match, as she looks to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals for just the second time in her career.

She will take on 23rd seed Clara Tauson on Monday, July 7, who she beat in both of their two previous meetings.
