Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have decided to end their coaching partnership, with the decision made shortly before the French Open.

The Serbian is playing an ATP 250 event in Geneva to prepare for the French Open, after Djokovic decided to withdraw from the Italian Open.

Djokovic has thanked Murray for their time together, with their surprising partnership having started at the 2025 Australian Open.

The former rivals linked up for the first Grand Slam of the 2025 season, where Djokovic reached the semi-finals.

But injury prevented the 24-time Grand Slam champion from finishing his match with Alexander Zverev, who lost the final to defending champion Jannik Sinner.

Andy Roddick makes Andy Murray prediction after Novak Djokovic split

Sinner and Zverev are currently playing at the Italian Open, with Djokovic instead opting to drop down to ATP 250 level as Roland Garros nears.

And it remains to be seen what action Murray will take after the split, with former world number one Andy Roddick sharing his verdict on the Scot’s future.

Asked on Tennis Channel Live how long he thinks it will be until Murray starts coaching again, Roddick replied: “I don’t think it’s going to happen any time soon, I think this is an exceptional circumstance with someone he probably wanted to learn from.

“They have a friendship before. I don’t think this is going to be something we see from Murray, at least on the travelling side, and maybe we see him work with people in London.

“I think his brain always wants to work in the tennis space. But I would be shocked if he went on the road with someone else any time soon.”

What do the futures of Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray look like?

Murray’s future is now seemingly up in the air, with many having expected the legend to continue working with his fellow legend for quite some time.

But one certainty is that he would be a huge asset for any player looking to improve their game, with Djokovic certain to give Murray a glowing review.

The duo went from rivals to partners in a very short space of time, with the three-time Grand Slam champion quickly turning to coaching after retiring last season.

Djokovic meanwhile is set to chase further Grand Slam success next month without his good friend by his side.

At Roland Garros, the 37-year-old is targeting a record 25th Grand Slam title, at a tournament he has won on three occasions.

Before that, however, a huge career milestone is possible, with Djokovic aiming for a 100th ATP Tour title in Geneva.
