Jack Draper returned from injury at the Davis Cup recently.

Playing his first match since the US Open, Draper defeated Viktor Durasovic to give Great Britain a 1-0 lead against Norway.

He didn’t play another match in Scandinavia, as Great Britain defeated Norway 4-0 to set up another qualifier against Ecuador later this year.

What does Jack Draper need to change about his career to keep fit?

In less positive news, Draper withdrew from the Rotterdam Open, pushing back his ATP Tour return.

The Brit is next scheduled to compete at the Dubai Tennis Championships, which begin on Monday, February 23.

Once ranked as high as fourth in the world, Draper now sits 12th in the ATP rankings.

With 1,000+ points to defend over the next month or so, the chances are Draper will continue to slide down the rankings.

During the latest episode of ‘Served with Andy Roddick‘, the 2003 US Open champion predicted how far the 24-year-old will drop.

Andy Roddick thinks Jack Draper will fall outside the top 20

“[Jack] Draper hadn’t played a match since August, I mean, he played one match, then he was out. Tried to play Wimbledon, he hasn’t been fully healthy, it feels like, since Madrid last year, maybe the first week of the French Open,” said Andy Roddick.

“His ranking is going to drop because he front-loaded a bunch of points.

“Obviously, I don’t think he’s going to get back to what he was in March, April, May last year.

“So there’s going to be a 20-something next to his name at some point.”

Points Jack Draper has to defend until the end of the clay season

Draper has 2,510 points to defend between now and the end of the clay-court season (early June).

If he were to drop 2,510 points from his current tally, he’d fall out of the world’s top 200.

Roddick is, however, expecting big things from Draper when he returns to full fitness.

“But he’s still one of the guys that can build and not say challenge the big two, but disrupt the tennis earth, and maybe one of the people that can sneak something out, in some way, shape, or form,” he said.

Draper was one of the most impressive players in men’s tennis during the first half of the 2025 season.

He was particularly impressive at Indian Wells, a tournament he will return to next month.

Who did Jack Draper beat at Indian Wells in 2025?

Before Indian Wells last year, Draper hadn’t reached a Masters 1000 semifinal.

Finding another level in his game, the Brit made a breakthrough in California.

Back-to-back wins over Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton saw Draper book his spot in the last four.

Many expected his run to end there…

Stepping on court as a massive underdog against Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz, Draper needed to produce one of the best performances of his career.

What would the score be if Carlos Alcaraz faced prime Roger Federer?

Who is winning and in how many sets?

Doing just that, Draper defeated Alcaraz 6-1, 0-6, 6-4, to advance to the biggest final of his career.

Dealing with the pressure remarkably well, Draper dominated Holger Rune in straight sets, dropping just four games en route to his maiden Masters 1000 title.

A second Masters 1000 final appearance followed in Madrid, but the Brit fell short against Norway’s Casper Ruud.

Only time will tell if Draper can enjoy further success at the Masters 1000 level in 2026…

The first Masters 1000 tournament of the year, Indian Wells, begins on Monday, March 2.
