A new kid on the block has emerged in the world of professional tennis as Jack Draper claimed the biggest win of his career at Indian Wells.

Draper defeated Holger Rune in the final and being brutally honest, the Englishman couldn’t have asked for a tough run to the final in the first place.

The 23-year-old defeated Joao Fonseca, Jenson Brooksby, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz just to reach the final at the California-based event.

His performance in the final was just spectacular. Rune was smashed 6-2, 6-2 by the Great British performer who got his hands on a big ATP 1000 title.

Draper has shared how close he thinks he is to Alcaraz’s level and he’s now up to a career-best number seven in the ATP world rankings.

Holger Rune reacts on social media after losing to Jack Draper

Rune is only 21 and his time ill come at this event in the future if he continues developing and improving as a tennis player.

The youngster has won four career titles and now he will hope that this Indian Wells run can help him get beyond the last eight of a Grand Slam later this year.

After losing to Draper, Rune took to social media and he’s in good spirits despite being blown away by the Great Britain star.

He posted: “Not the final I dreamt about but happy to be on the right track. Draper was on it this week and he deserved the title here.

“I went one step closer after seven semi-finals the past year, nice to be in the final again, but now I am hungry for the real trophies.

“One more step next time. Thanks for the amazing support at this fantastic tournament.”

Rennae Stubbs makes unbelievable Jack Draper claim

This is far and away the biggest win of Draper’s career and he will now be looking to prove it’s not a flash in the pan.

Stubbs said on X ahead of the final that she fancies Draper to win Wimbledon – although she didn’t say what year she thinks that will happen.

After the brilliance of Andy Murray to win Wimbledon twice in his career, it would be great to think that Draper can also win the title at the All England Club.

Being the number seven in the world should do Draper favours when it comes to the draws going forward and a Grand Slam title is well within his grasp at some point in the future.
