Andy Roddick dissected America’s Olympics campaign and thinks some players will be disappointed with their efforts.
The US included a strong women’s Olympics team that included Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro, Danielle Collins and Desirae Krawczyk.
This was certainly one of the teams to beat and at least one player was expected to win a medal, but all five players left the Games empty handed.
But there is little time to dwell on their disappointments as the North American hard court swing and the road to the US Open is now underway.

Roddick took to his ‘Served Podcast’ to discuss the US women’s performances at the Olympics.
The pressure told as each of the five players failed to medal and only Collins reached as far as the Olympics quarter-finals in the singles competition.
Perhaps the biggest moments of their respective campaigns was Navarro, Collins and Gauff telling either the chair umpire or their opponent exactly how they felt in each of their defeats.
Explaining what he saw from the American women, he said: “I favoured the women, Gauff, Pegula, doubles, the whole situation, you would have bet on the US women. So they have to be a bit disappointed. I’m sure they will tell you these weren’t the results they wanted.
“It was full of drama with the Danimal and Swiatek and Emma Navarro speaking out. The Danimal going off and being p* off at someone isn’t something new and it’s something I participated in heavily in my career.
“Navarro not so much, but zero medals on the takeaway for the US women. But such is life, such is sport. Nothing is scripted, there are no guarantees, that’s why it’s the best reality show in the world.”
What does Andy Roddick expect from the US women’s players over the North American hard court swing?
As mentioned above, there is little time for the US women’s players to dwell on the past as their focus shifts to the North American hard court swing.
Gauff will play the Canadian Open as the top seed while Pegula enters the tournament as the defending champion and Navarro is also set to compete.
Ahead of their return to hard courts, Roddick expects them to bounce back quickly, especially with a home Slam on the horizon.
“Coco has a title defence, Jess Pegula still wants to make the semis of a grand slam. I think they will reset pretty quickly,” he said.
“Probably less of a hangover because they have to get right back to it. I’m guessing most will go to Canada and play.”
