Another edition of the Laver Cup has now concluded, with Team Europe beating Team World 13-11 in Berlin.

Carlos Alcaraz won eight points on his Laver Cup debut, helping guide Bjorn Borg’s side to success at the Uber Arena.

Casper Ruud thanked Alcaraz for his displays, with the duo having come together on the final day to secure a big win over Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe.

It was a thrilling final day in Germany, where home favourite Alexander Zverev also picked up a key victory over Tiafoe.

The 2024 Laver Cup represented the final time Borg and Team World captain John McEnroe will lead their respective teams.

Andy Roddick has three questions about Laver Cup future

They will be replaced by Yannick Noah and Andre Agassi respectively for the 2025 edition, which will take place in San Francisco.

That is just one of the issues that tennis legend Andy Roddick has raised about the future of the Laver Cup, saying on the latest edition of Served With Andy Roddick: “We’ve officially entered the weird part of the tennis season. I spent all weekend watching the Laver Cup, covering it on TC Live.

“I think what they’ve done with that event is great. There’s a couple of questions: Is it sustainable? Where do we go from here? How many times can you travel it around? New captains, saying goodbye to old captains.”

Team Europe get back to winning ways at the Laver Cup

Many will already be looking ahead to next year’s event, which will be hosted by San Francisco’s Chase Center.

New Team World captain Agassi will be among those keen to focus on the event, with the hosts needing to regain their title.

McEnroe had led them to back-to-back successes in 2022 and 2023, but that was only after Team Europe’s success in the first four tournaments.

As ever, there will be questions over which players will be selected next time out, but it’s clear that Alcaraz has done more than enough to warrant a place.

The Spaniard entered the competition out of form, but proved if proof was needed just how deadly he can be on the court.
