Former world number one Andy Roddick has apologised to Corentin Moutet for dismissing his chances of beating Nicolas Jarry in the first round of the French Open.
Moutet came into the tournament, which started last Monday, on the back of a disappointing defeat to Marc-Andrea Huesler in the Turin Challenger event.
Meanwhile, Jarry made it all the way to the Italian Open final, where he was only narrowly beaten by Alexander Zverev.
So, Roddick can certainly be excused for predicting the wrong outcome.

Roddick believed that Jarry would win comfortably but it was Moutet that progressed to the next round, thrashing his Chilean opponent 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.
“First of all, my apologies,” the 2003 US Open champion said on his podcast, Served with Andy Roddick. “We do the draw show and I dismiss some people just based on form and match-ups, and they prove me wrong.
“I said Moutet was going to go down first round and he was going to be an angry guy about it – he didn’t. He made the fourth round and was the last Frenchman standing and decided to take the first set off Jannik Sinner.
“I still think there is every chance in every match he plays that he is going to get angry and complain about something but the guy played his ass off last week, so I was wrong. Moutet was right, he had a good run.”

After success against Jarry in the French Open first round, Moutet’s fine form carried over into the next, beating Ukrainian Alexander Shevchenko 3-1.
And, he followed that up in the third round, seeing off world number 79 Sebastian Ofner in four sets.
However, Moutet’s amazing Roland Garros run came to an end in his fourth-round match against Sinner on the famous Philippe-Chatrier court.
It looked like another upset was on the cards when Moutet took the first set, 6-2, but Sinner showed why he is the second-best player in the world by winning the next three with relative ease.
The Italian will take on Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-final on Tuesday afternoon in pursuit of his second Grand Slam title, having already won the Australian Open earlier this year.
