Jessica Pegula will head into Wimbledon this week looking to lay her hands on a first Grand Slam title.
The world number five gets things underway tomorrow against compatriot Ashlyn Krueger.
Pegula has enjoyed some success on grass this season, winning the Grass Court Championship in Berlin.
Her game seems good going into Wimbledon and she will be hoping to get beyond the quarter-final for the first time ever.
At 30-years-old, Pegula will be desperate to get over the line and win one of the major titles before her career comes to an end.
Now, Andy Roddick has made a claim about the American going into the third Grand Slam of 2024 – and it might surprise some people.

Andy Roddick makes very bold claim about Jessica Pegula at Wimbledon
The world’s fifth-best player has the game to win a major title but she has been underwhelming in majors during her career.
For a player with so much talent to never reach a semi-final in a Grand Slam makes for pretty bleak reading.
However, Roddick is actually predicting a good tournament for the American despite the fact she could meet world number one Iga Swiatek in the semi-final.
He said on the Served with Andy Roddick podcast: “Pegula is in the final guys!
“I think Pegula in the final and I think she is like 55/45 to beat Boulter in the third round, so I don’t know how this works!
“Pegula has never been past the quarters and I have her in the finals at Wimbledon.
“I have Sabalenka beating Pegula in the final.”
Pegula doesn’t exactly have an easy route through to the second week but Roddick is adamant with these claims.
In the two slams so far this season, Pegula lost in round two of the Australian Open and chose not to enter the French Open through injury.
Pegula must show best form to win Wimbledon
Playing tennis on the grass can take it out of players and Pegula will need to be on her top form to win the tournament.
It does seem a bit of a strange pick for Roddick to go for Pegula to win the whole thing given her record at the tournament.
Not reaching the semi-final at any point during her career is extremely underwhelming and she will want to conquer that feat first.
Pegula will be under no illusions that she will have to play well to win Wimbledon this year – with other players in better form.
However, she shouldn’t be discounted and it remains to be seen if Roddick’s prediction comes to fruition.
