Andy Roddick warns fans against ‘pretending’ that American tennis hasn’t improved
Roddick wants fans to understand that men’s tennis in America has improved, even if the wait for a Grand Slam win goes on.
“What you see, at like a macro level, with, we have multiple people to choose from in the top 10…” he said.
“Unfortunately, in US men’s tennis, it’s going to be Slam won, or this streak continues, and that misses all nuance.

‘American tennis is in a great place’- Andy Roddick
Producing a weekly podcast, Roddick’s job is made a lot easier by the stars of American tennis.
“We come on every week, and there might have been a week where it’s like, hey, we’ve got to figure out something to talk about.’ The script is written for us most weeks,” he said.
“The script writes itself, we have the easiest job in the world, we come and report on excellence, and if it’s not perfect, we talk about what adjustments need to be made.
“This is the easiest job in the world because of the players. American tennis is in a great place; worldwide tennis is in a great place.

“Revenues have never been higher, interest has never been higher, in the Slams, in these players.
“It’s Looney Tunes, we feel so lucky to be the smallest part of tennis.”
Roddick is confident that things will continue to improve.
“Thing about sports, it always gets better,” he said.
“Players are going to be better 20 years from now than they were 20 years ago.
“Anyone who tells you differently is lying to you or themselves.”
Only time will tell what’s in store for American tennis in 2026, but you certainly won’t want to miss any of the action.
The United States will look to kick off its year with a big win at the United Cup, which begins on January 2.
