Madison Keys can proudly call herself a Grand Slam champion, having beaten Aryna Sabalenka in the Australian Open final.

Former world number one Andy Roddick thinks Sabalenka made great tactical adjustments in the match, despite losing 6-3, 2-6, 7-5.

Billie Jean King has congratulated Keys on her success, with the American emerging victorious after two hours and two minutes.

Keys lifted her maiden Grand Slam title at Rod Laver Arena, having lost the US Open final to Sloane Stephens back in 2017.

Sabalenka meanwhile was denied a stunning third successive Australian Open title, with Keys simply proving too strong in their thrilling face-off.

Madison Keys grateful for her team after Australian Open final win vs Aryna Sabalenka

The American has rightfully been soaking up all the praise that has gone her way, but she has now taken to social media to thank her team.

“Couldn’t have asked for three better people to be with me,” Keys wrote on Instagram, tagging coach and husband Bjorn Fratangelo, physio Kayla Fujimoto Epperson and fitness coach Reshard Langford.

“For so long, I was scared to be vulnerable but all of you taught me to embrace that discomfort, whether it was physical or emotional. We had one common goal and we did it. Let’s try it again. Forever grateful to you all.”

Fratangelo, a former professional player, was among those commenting on the post, saying: “Avengers… assemble.”

Australian Open champion Madison Keys wins WTA title number 10

Keys is certainly a relatively late bloomer when it comes to Grand Slam success, having just lifted a major trophy for the first time at the age of 29.

Sabalenka on the other hand has three Grand Slam titles at the age of 26, with 23-year-old Iga Swiatek on five.

A 19-year-old Coco Gauff meanwhile won the 2023 US Open, but Keys has now proven that age is simply just a number.

The latter will now be aiming to push on after her superb success, which has indeed resulted in a return to a career-high ranking of number seven.

It also takes her WTA title tally into double figures, with Keys now a two-time winner in 2025 already after her Adelaide International success earlier this month.

She defeated fellow American and top seed Jessica Pegula in that final, with Sabalenka having also entered the first Grand Slam of 2025 as a tournament winner after her success in Brisbane.
