Andy Murray has shut down the prospect of becoming a tennis pundit after retiring from the game.

The three-time Grand Slam champion’s time as a player appears to be coming to an end following the news he may miss the Wimbledon Championships.

The Brit has been plagued with injuries since 2017 and has struggled to rediscover his best tennis as a result.

With the physical issues continuing to mount up and the player not getting any younger, Murray knows the time is ticking on his career.

But when that time does come, the 37-year-old does not plan on heading one particular career path.

Why does Andy Murray not want to become a tennis pundit?

Several tennis players go into tennis commentary after their playing careers have come to an end.

The likes of John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova and Murray’s fellow Brit Tim Henman have all made successful transitions into punditry.

But the two-time Wimbledon winner does not plan to follow in their footsteps and was very clear with his reason why.

“I’ve done [punditry] before but didn’t particularly enjoy it,” the double Olympic champion told the Sunday Times.

“Everyone agrees with each other all the time – there is no needle in the analysis and I don’t think it’s entertaining, or the best for the sport. One thing I like about football is they disagree.”

Andy Murray is still not ruled out of playing at Wimbledon

Despite having surgery on his back, the former World number one has not yet been ruled out of the competition, according to Judy Murray.

In a now deleted post, the ATP wrote that Murray will not play at Wimbledon following his back procedure, which came after the Telegraph reported he would be out for six weeks.

But the player’s mother posted a tweet of her own claiming his medical information had been leaked and he still has a chance of appearing at SW19.

“When your private medical details are leaked to the media by someone you thought you could trust. So disappointing,” she posted. “And – FYI – not ruled out yet.”

Should Murray play at Wimbledon, it could be his final appearance at the prestigious tournament.
