Andy Murray is the latest complainant about goings-on at Wimbledon this year.

There have been many critiques this year, most recently highlighted by the criticism of electronic line calling.

That is not the only thing that has divided opinion at SW19, with Wimbledon’s scheduling also being called out during the first week of the tournament.

Now Murray, who is not at Wimbledon this year, has given his say on something that he does not agree with during the match between Jannik Sinner and Grigor Dimitrov.

Andy Murray complains about decision made during Jannik Sinner’s match against Grigor Dimitrov

After Dimitrov stunned the world number one Sinner by going two sets to love up, the chair umpire announced that they would be closing the roof due to the fading light.

This would mean that there would be a 10 minute pause in play that is needed to fully shut the roof on Centre Court.

While this is often protocol at Wimbledon, Murray was not happy with this decision and voiced his disapproval at the timing in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“So ridiculous to close the roof at this stage of the match,” said Murray. “At least an hour of light left….well over a set of tennis can still be played..its an outdoor tournament!”

Do people agree with what Andy Murray has said?

Despite Murray’s potentially divisive take, it appears that a lot of people are agreeing with what he has said.

One person wrote, “Always hated the way Wimbledon operates in terms of schedule and the roof. Just ridiculous.”

Another added, “It’s true! the ball could be seen just fine mind u!”

Additional social media users echoed the views of Murray, “Andy sees it. We all see it.”

The Centre Court roof did not get much usage, with Dimitrov being forced to retire due to an unfortunate injury in the fifth game of the third set.

Sinner will now move on to another Grand Slam quarter-final where he will play American Ben Shelton.
