Jannik Sinner is through to his maiden French Open final after beating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

Roland Garros witnessed a special performance from a remarkable player, and in truth, Djokovic wasn’t exactly bad either.

Sinner is the number one player for a reason, however, and his performance just proved too strong for Djokovic, who must wait to get his hands on Grand Slam title number 25.

Sinner will now face Carlos Alcaraz in the final at Roland Garros on Sunday, with the world’s top two players going head to head in a major final for the first time since 2013.

Andre Agassi shocked by something Jannik Sinner did during win over Novak Djokovic

The 1999 French Open winner has been doing pundit duty at this year’s tournament, and he’s a man who captivates an audience when he speaks.

What Agassi doesn’t know about tennis isn’t worth knowing, and he’s been there and got the t-shirt when it comes to the major tournaments.

After the match on Friday evening, Agassi admitted there was something that really shocked him about Sinner during his win over Djokovic.

He told TNT Sports: “You have to question if you can argue, Sinner, maybe the best defensive. I mean, I know Alcaraz gets a lot of balls, but Sinner gets there and then unsprings on it, right? I mean, you can get Alcaraz sort of chopping and weaving, left and right, forward and back,

“I mean, there’s no comparison, but I was really shocked, firsthand, at just watching how much court he covers.

“He makes himself seem small when he’s in this crouch position, and then he springs open and can fire from deep in the corners, pretty remarkable.”

French Open final could be a blockbuster classic

Given that Alcaraz and Sinner haven’t met at a Grand Slam final yet, this could be truly special and one that offers a glimpse into the future of tennis.

Much like Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer before them, these two players will dominate tennis in the future and Sunday promises to be special.

Tonight proved to be meat and drink for Sinner but he’s unlikely to get things all his own way at the weekend against Alcaraz.

The final looks like one that will have every tennis fan gripped, and it would appear that Agassi is a huge fan of what Sinner is doing at the moment in the sport.

Sinner is a truly special player and on Sunday, he will take some serious stopping when it comes to the French Open title.
