Alexander Zverev is currently heavily involved in 2025 Australian Open preparations, with the German still seeking his first Grand Slam title.

Zverev thinks he had a ‘good year’, where he won two titles at ATP Masters 1,000 tournaments in Paris and Rome.

He also finished the 2024 season behind only Jannik Sinner and ahead of Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP rankings.

But the 23-time tour-level winner is now looking ahead to the new season, with Zverev set to play the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad 2025 for the first time in his career.

Before that, however, Zverev has the small matter of the Australian Open to focus on, having lost in the semi-finals of the Grand Slam last time out.

Alexander Zverev sends angry message after Ivan Lendl quotes

But his preparations have been hit by a slight distraction, with Zverev now forced into taking to social media to deny ‘not true’ quotes about his relationship with former coach Ivan Lendl.

“So apparently I gave an interview about my coaching relationship with Ivan Lendl recently, which is not true,” Zverev wrote on his Instagram story.

“In fact, I have not spoken to anyone from the press since my foundation event in Tannenhof one day after Turin and I have not made any comments about my coaching relationship with Ivan Lendl in more than five years.

“I understand that everybody is very bored right now because it is the off-season and not much is happening except a lot of hard work, but this shows once again that some stories have to be completely made up by very bad journalism to keep readers interested in made up drama… see you all soon in Australia.”

Third-time lucky for Alexander Zverev after Grand Slam heartache?

Zverev will be eager to focus on matters on the court as opposed to those off them during the current off-season.

He did impress with two titles in 2024, along with his rise to world number two, but 2025 could be a defining moment in his career.

The German, now 27, has lost two Grand Slam finals in his career so far, one of which came against Carlos Alcaraz at this year’s French Open.

Alcaraz and Zverev are very likely to come face-to-face once more in 2025, with the latter likely needing to beat the former if he is to finally clinch Grand Slam success.

He is certainly more than capable of beating the very best, having emerged victorious at the 2018 and 2021 ATP Finals.
