Alexander Zverev’s eighth ATP Finals campaign ended in the group stage following his loss to Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Zverev fell to Auger-Aliassime in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6, with the Canadian booking his place in the knockout stages of the year-end tournament for the first time.

The German won just one match in Turin, having beaten Ben Shelton in his opening round-robin clash before suffering defeat to Jannik Sinner.

His loss to Auger-Aliassime marked the end of Zverev’s 2025 season on the ATP Tour, in which he clinched just one title.

The defeat also saw him join tennis legends Jimmy Connors and Stefan Edberg in an unwanted list.

Zverev was handed a pair of losses at the ATP Finals by two top ten players in Sinner and Auger-Aliassime.

Since 1973, only Connors and Edberg have lost more matches than Zverev to top ten players while being ranked inside the world’s top three.

Connors tallied 13 such losses during the 1984 season, while Edberg amassed a total of 12 in 1992.

Zverev, who has been ranked inside the top three for the entire season, was handed four of his 11 top ten defeats by Sinner.

Where do you think Felix Auger-Aliassime will finish the year ranked next year?
