Andre Agassi captained Team World to victory at the 2025 Laver Cup.
Taking over from John McEnroe, Agassi gave several players their Laver Cup debuts, including American youngster Alex Michelsen.
Michelsen played four matches under Agassi as Team World won their third Laver Cup.

Reflecting on the experience, Michelsen has shared how Agassi helped him during the 2025 Laver Cup in San Francisco.
Alex Michelsen says Andre Agassi ‘inspired’ him at the Laver Cup
Appearing as a guest on the latest episode of ‘Served with Andy Roddick‘, Michelsen gave his verdict on ‘coach’ Agassi.
“I mean, that was one of the best weeks of my entire life,” said Michelsen.
“And the big thing for me was the amount of energy, how much he wanted us to win.
“He wanted us to win so bad.
“You could see it in the matches, he was pretty tight, but in a good way.
“He would just bring so much energy, and I came out tight as a rope, and he really helped me out that match, I remember.
“Just seeing him there, how can you not get inspired, when you’ve got Agassi, and you’ve got [Pat] Rafter over there as well, it’s super hard not to get inspired.”
Michelsen was appreciative of the opportunity to play four matches on his Laver Cup debut.

“I was lucky enough to play four different matches in that atmosphere; it was full every day,” he said.
“I had a blast.
“I only won one match out of the four, but still had a lot of fun.”

McEnroe, a tennis icon, led Team World for the first seven editions of the Laver Cup.
Some wondered if Roger Federer (Laver Cup founder) could ever find a suitable replacement for McEnroe.
They aren’t wondering anymore!

Agassi, an eight-time Grand Slam champion, was desperate to win, perhaps even more so than his ever-competitive predecessor.
The sample size is small, of course, but Agassi is currently the most successful captain in Laver Cup history.

Whether he can maintain his winning record is another question altogether.
He’ll return for his second Laver Cup this September in London, England.
The full line-ups are yet to be confirmed, but Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz are both set to join Agassi at the O2.
And Yannick Noah, looking to win his first Laver Cup as Team Europe’s captain, has enlisted the help of Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev.
Only time will tell who else will join Agassi and Noah’s teams, but it will certainly be something to keep an eye on over the coming months.
The 2026 Laver Cup begins on Friday, September 25.
