De Minaur, who suffered a shock defeat at the Mexican Open, has only played doubles once so far this year.
That came when he was representing Australia at the United Cup, with De Minaur winning his match alongside compatriot Storm Hunter.
Despite being unbeaten in doubles so far this year, De Minaur has explained why he does not enjoy the format.

Prior to his first round match at the Mexican Open, where De Minaur lost in the first round to world number 103 Patrick Kypson, he answered some questions from tennis fans on TikTok.
One of those questions asked De Minaur why he doesn’t play doubles, to which he admitted that he didn’t think he was very good.
“I don’t play doubles, because I’m not great at doubles,” said De Minaur. “I get frustrated playing doubles, so yeah that’s probably the reason why.”
De Minaur has played mixed doubles once this year, but it has been even longer since he entered a doubles tournament on the ATP Tour.
That was at the China Open in Beijing, where De Minaur played alongside Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, which resulted in a first round exit.

Although De Minaur’s doubles participation in 2026 is very minimal, he has played many tournaments over his career in the format.
The Australian has even played doubles in every Grand Slam tournament, but De Minaur has never surpassed the second round.

De Minaur has made only one appearance in mixed doubles at a Grand Slam, which came alongside his now fiancée Katie Boulter.
Playing at Boulter’s home Grand Slam of Wimbledon, they reached the second round before being knocked out and have not played together since.

De Minaur claims he is ‘not great’ at doubles, but he has actually won a Masters 1000 title.
At the 2020 Cincinnati Open, De Minaur partnered former top 10 singles player Pablo Carreno Busta and they went all the way to the title.
This is the only ATP title De Minaur has ever won in doubles, but he has won more Masters 1000 titles in it than he has in singles.
Despite suggesting he was not planning to play much doubles in the future, De Minaur has actually entered to play at the tournament in Indian Wells alongside compatriot John Peers.
