After a major shock on Wednesday night, the women’s semi-finals take place tonight at the US Open.

It was another dramatic day of action at Flushing Meadows as the semi-final line-ups on the men’s and women’s sides of the draw were completed.

The biggest shock of the night was women’s world number one Iga Swiatek losing to the USA’s Jessica Pegula.

Defeating Swiatek in straight sets to reach a Grand Slam last four for the first time in her career, her reward will be a tie against Karolina Muchova following her win against in-form Beatriz Haddad Maia.

It was Jack Draper’s day on the men’s side as he finally beat Alex De Minaur at the fourth attempt – winning in straight sets.

Like Pegula, Draper is also in a Grand Slam semi-final for the first time. Still, he will face his toughest opposition yet after being drawn against men’s number one Jannik Sinner, who defeated Daniil Medvedev.

Key storylines to follow on day 11 of the 2024 US Open

With tournament favorite Swiatek now out of the competition, all four women competing in Thursday’s semi-finals will believe this is their chance.

Starting the day will be the new favorite to take the crown as number two seed Aryna Sabalenka goes up against US star Emma Navarro, who beat last year’s US Open champion, Coco Gauff at the last 16 stage.

Closing the day out is the two quarter-final winners from yesterday as Pegula faces Muchova knowing that should she and Navarro both win, it will set up an all-American final.
