Across the pond, the name on everyone’s lips in the world of American tennis is Emma Navarro.
The 23-year-old reached her maiden Grand Slam semi-final with a win over Paula Badosa and will now face Aryna Sabalenka.
Flushing Meadows went wild when Navarro completed a 6-2, 7-5 victory over the Spaniard to follow up a fine win over Coco Gauff.
Navarro reached the last eight at Wimbledon and has now gone one step further at the Grand Slam which is held in her place of birth.
Gauff admitted she’d be rooting for Navarro after losing to her in the last 16 and now there will be ambitions to go all the way.

Emma Navarro shares what her dad said to her before US Open win
It’s a real family affair for Navarro at the US Open and clearly she values having her family in her corner watching her games.
Navarro is currently being coached by Peter Ayers but her dad is never too far away whenever she takes to the court.
After winning her latest match and booking a semi-final berth with Sabalenka she shared what her dad said to her before the match.
Navarro said during her press conference on YouTube: “I saw him after the match and he said that he had a few tears there when I shouted him out after the match, so that was really sweet and he was really excited.
“He came to watch my warm-up and before he just said, ‘Enjoy it, have fun out there, it’s US Open quarter-finals, this is insane, take it all in’.
“I took that with me out there and it’s so cool to have him out there, cheering me on always. I’m just so grateful to have him.”
Navarro faces toughest test yet against Sabalenka
Beating Gauff in the last 16 is a big win but as a youngster herself, she is capable of a momentary lapse that can let her opponents in.
Sabalenka will provide Navarro with a serious test. The Belarussian has two Australian Open titles to her name, whilst she reached the US Open final last year.
The 26-year-old is probably showing some of the best form of her career at the moment and after missing Wimbledon, she will be keen to make up for lost time.
Navarro will give it a good go, however. An underdog isn’t to be underestimated and it promises to be an intriguing match when the pair meet tomorrow.
