The WTA Tour is brimming with young talent, which was just showcased at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Veterans Elina Svitolina and Jessica Pegula sent a reminder to those youngsters with their impressive displays at the Grand Slam.

They both reached the semifinals before Elena Rybakina lifted the trophy, but the new generation is ensuring that the future of the WTA Tour is in very safe hands.

The likes of Iga Swiatek and Amanda Anisimova are only 24 years old, while their fellow top five star Coco Gauff is just 21.

There are, however, players younger than that who are making real waves in women’s tennis right now, with five teenagers currently in the top 50 of the world rankings.

Who is your favorite player on the WTA Tour right now?

Mirra Andreeva – 18

Mirra Andreeva is only 18 years old, but has already climbed as high as world number five, while she is a four-time WTA champion.

The Russian has achieved great success despite her brief career so far, including back-to-back WTA 1000 titles at Dubai and Indian Wells last year.

Victoria Mboko – 19

Like Andreeva, Victoria Mboko is already a WTA 1000 champion, triumphing on home soil in Montreal last year.

The 19-year-old is now in her career-high rank of 13th, and boasts two WTA titles from her hugely exciting time on the court so far.

Iva Jovic – 18

Just like Mboko, Iva Jovic occupies her career-high rank of 20th following the Australian Open, where the American played doubles with the Canadian.

But the 18-year-old particularly caught the eye in singles, with one-time WTA winner Jovic knocking out Jasmine Paolini before a quarterfinal loss to Aryna Sabalenka.

Maya Joint – 19

Another two-time champion already, 19-year-old Maya Joint has been enjoying herself on the WTA Tour so far.

Alex de Minaur rates Joint highly, with the Australian having just added doubles success to her singles feats by lifting the trophy in Abu Dhabi alongside Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Tereza Valentova – 18

Another 18-year-old currently rising the ranks is Tereza Valentova, who fittingly idolizes both Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic.

The world number 44, who has yet to win a WTA title, beat home favorite Joint at the Australian Open before falling to eventual champion Rybakina.

Alexandra Eala among other youngsters impressing on WTA Tour

Of course, there are plenty of other young stars impressing on the WTA Tour that are now no longer teenagers.

Alexandra Eala finds herself 45th in the world rankings at the age of 20, although she’s well behind fellow rising stars Linda Noskova and Diana Shnaider.

Gauff, however, is undoubtedly the player setting the example in that regard, with the 21-year-old already a two-time Grand Slam champion.

And many others further down the rankings may soon make a name for themselves, including Ashlyn Krueger, Solana Sierra and Petra Marcinko.
